Ru roh, Bootsie...

So this weekend was all sorts of fun.  We got to Atlanta bright and early about noon and stopped at our hotel in Newnan, Georgia.  We headed on into the city and navigated to the Aquarium.  The Aquarium was huge and the wait in line was a few hours.  We decided to put that part off until a later trip and walked a block or so down the street to a very yummy deli.

I had a turkey reuben that was VERY good and Paul and his Mom got fries with their sandwiches that Paul rated as “easily in my top ten fries.”  We relaxed there for a few minutes then headed down to Turner Field to get an early jump on our Braves game!

We got there early enough to nose around and we went to our seats in time to see them warming up. We got to see some of our favorite players getting ready for the game!

Not many people know that my favorite Brave is an alternate player by the name of Greg Norton.  Now, he is by no means the best player ever, but I’ve always enjoyed cheering him on.  Anyway, every time he came up to bat I let out a high-pitched scream to let him know he had a fan club.  It got noticed.  His second time at bat he had a chance to hit a grand slam that would have changed the game for the better.  He missed the home run by about two feet.  I will say it again though, Greg Norton is an awesome player.

Paul said he just wanted to see a Braves home run.  You know who hit one towards the very end of the game?  Greg. Frikkin’. Norton.  He’s my hero.

We sauntered back to our hotel and went out for a late supper.  I drove his Mom’s stick-shift Volvo and that is one of the smoothest, easiest cars to drive I have ever driven.  The clutch is set perfectly on it and it was such a joy!

The next morning we lolled around in bed till about noon then drug our butts out.  We weren’t sure what we were going to do, but Paul and I spotted a PetSmart in the shopping center near our hotel. I recently showed his how fun of a store they are and he asked his Mom to pull over and we could all go inside.  We did.  They were having puppy adoption day.

We adopted the cutest mutt and named her Chipper (yes, after Mr. Jones of the aforementioned Atlanta Braves).  She is exceedingly intelligent and is picking up her housetraining very quickly.  She snuggled with me in the bed this morning and is so cute!  There will be plenty of future pictures of her, so keep yourself posted!

Bootsie, however, is very not happy that there is a dog in the house.  Ru roh indeed, Misses Bootsie.
